The weather has been gorgeous lately and I'd really like to take a hike that will treat me with a great view at the end. What are the hikes around San Antonio that give us the best views?

Eisenhower Park off of NW Military. Take the observation tower trail. The Boy Scouts built an observation tower at the top of the hill years ago, and the view is pretty decent....especially on a clear day. You can see downtown SA and it is on a flightpath for the SA airport. Take binoculars.
I second Enchanted Rock, although it is a bit of a drive from SA.

I'll second Eisenhower Park and Enchanted Rock, and want to add Government Canyon to the list. 40 miles of hiking and biking trails that range from remote rugged canyon lands to gently rolling grasslands, and the second largest state natural area in Texas!

Cheers! M2

I need to take a day off and explore a little of Government Canyon. Have yet to visit and it's right down the street.

majormadmax, is that a pic of Government Canyon? I had no idea it looked like that! I'll give it another try. Actually, I'm going to do all the suggestions. I went to Friedrich Wilderness Area a couple of days ago, but I couldn't see much from the top of the main loop through the trees, but I'll try the Vista Loop next. I can't wait to do Enchanted Rock and Lost Maples!

Thanks for your suggestions!
