Relocated to San Antonio in a hurry for a job in the medical center. Renting a home in the great northwest area ( I guess it's called). Sort of WNW between 410 and the outer loop. I'm paying $1200 in rent for a 3 br house and I think it's too much for this area. When I buy next year, I'd be looking for a safe, established neighborhood ( I don't like the new cookie-cutter look). I wouldn't be able to afford more than about $150,000 or so. What I do like about my current location is that it's close to work, but a longer drive would be okay. Any suggestions?

Maybe north of 410, along nacogdoches, or wetmore. I think you get way more bang for your buck the more northeast you go. With wurzbach parkway soon to be completed it will be much easier getting to the Med center from that area.

Why don't you buy in the Great Northwest? You should be able to get a nice house in your price range. Or is it too cookie cutter for you?
