Lots of amusement parks and museums, great restaurants and plenty of outdoor activities to boot.

Austin has outstanding bars and places to mountain bike. I really have never thought of it as being "Texan" as much as San Antonio. There is a lot more Texas culture and history here, Austin is more modern...and expensive, which is another reason San Antonio got the nod (plus there were a lot more job opportunities down here for me, although I do have a Masters in IT and I am sure I could have found a job up there if I had to). Plus, San Antonio is a military town, so that also makes it more family-friendly.

Both are great towns, but distinctly different. If I were young and single, the choice would be Austin; but being married with children (always makes me laugh when I say that!), San Antonio is the place to be!

Cheers! M2
Very well put.

The honest truth is, San Antonio is far and away more of a family friendly city. Without question. I could go into great detail but won't as I'm tired and need rest. lol But if you need me to, just PM and I'll give you some information about family activities in San Antonio.
