A question was brought up with friends and we did not have an answer. If you are a resident of Bexar County but not in the city of San Antonio, can you be asked for jury duty for the city of San Antonio.

Yes, according to the Municipal Court website:

Looks like you have to be a resident of the city that summons you to serve in their court.

I stand corrected. I guess they cull the county pool for city residents.

I guess that's the way it works now. I've served as a juror in the COSA Municipal Court a couple of times in the past, but I got the summonses directly from the City of San Antonio (I'm a resident of the City), and I was directed to report to the Municipal Court Central Jury Room on S. Frio at the specified time/date.

They would tell us down there that there would always be people who mistakenly report to the Bexar County Courthouse, not realizing it was the City of San Antonio Municipal Court that was summoning them.

I live just outside the city limits, Pue/Marbach/1604 and I had to do jury duty downtown last year.

But was it for the county or city?

Jeez. I didn't even realize there was a difference until JUST NOW.
300 Dolorosa, in the basement, across from the Cafeteria.
It was my first time.

County.

In addition to the city court and the various county courts, it's also possible for a Bexar County resident to be summoned for jury service in their local JP precinct court or the Federal courts. Jury service in one of these 4 courts does not excuse a person from service in any of the others.
