Can I fit a bedroom set into a trailer this small? Headboard, dresser, nightstand and assorted other items?

Maybe, how big is the furniture. Best bet is to get a tape measure and find out for your self.

Assuming no mattress, the 4x8x 48" ceiling height is going to be small and may not work. I'd suggest the next size up- 5x8. You gain a lot of head room with the slightly larger trailer at 5'4". Obviously, a mirrored dresser would have to come apart so take blankets for the mirror part.

You'll need to figure out if it will fit or not yourself. The trailer signage or outfit should tell you max speed for trailer. Over 55 mph? Better tie things down real good. Stuff flying out of a trailer at 55 mph amid traffic can cause very serious accidents. Good luck with your move.

If I were you, I would decide how attached I was to some of these things.
I'm not sure the time and effort is worth moving the stuff all the way from NY unless it's pretty nice stuff.

Just to cover your bases, I would figure out how much you could get by selling it in NY, add the cost of the trailer and extra gas for pulling it, and compare it to how much it would cost you to just replace it here.
