Depending on the length of run the wire will take from the wall to the hottub, be prepared for how expensive its going to be.

Got a quote for $1400 once when I had a hottub installed. Instead I went to home depot and bought the wire, the electrical conduit, and the gfci breaker. Then I rented a trencher and dug the trench for the pipe. Fished the wire through the conduit and then covered up the trench.

The hot tub installers did the final connections for free. Saved about 900.

That's just crazy!!!! Absolutely no reason for it to cost that much. We've had a 220 installed before and the cost wasn't EVEN close to that. I value good electricians but your guy must have been insanely greedy

Angies list. You can probably find reviews for simular jobs and get an idea of how much it will cost and who has the best rating for the prices they charge.

Gerald is great. He came out and helped me close a deal by doing a last minute electrical fix. Has done work for a lot of my clients and does some major commercial work for my Dad. Have had nothing but great reviews.

Is the price what you expected?

Actually, I've been surprised by the difference in pricing. I'm only looking at professional, licensed and experienced electricians. So far, I have a bid for $550 and one for $975 and still waiting on the third bid. The pricing also includes an additional 110 outlet for outdoor lighting.
