Haven't lived in apts but have friends who did. Will check with them and let you know. Still very happy here. If y'all end up in Stone Oak Elementary I can give you all the inside scoop. Ignore the naysayers .

Oops. Should say home rentals are going to run higher than that due to the quality of the schools. Buying can actually be a cheaper option if you watch for a deal- we got a foreclosure and walked in with equity! But there are some really nice apts in the area that would fit your price point.

Thank you ddeel...yeah we will definitely be buying ASAP, we just need to get settled in and really familiar with the area before making a long-term purchase. Appreciate your help!

Bradford72, you are very wise to live here for awhile first before you decide to buy a house. I wish we would have and it's the bit of advice I'm happy to pass on.

Trying to get you some info. So far all I've found out is that The Club at Stone Oak is okay. My friends were really wanting a house though so they may have been biased. I know some other people from the school in some apartments that look really nice but they are always about to get evicted for not paying rent so I don't think I'd get an accurate idea from them. I did see a house for rent in my old neighborhood for $1600. I know that's high but sometimes houses pop up for $1300-1400. Summer is a heavy rental time though so if you could hold off until fall people who are selling might switch over to leasing. Sorry I'm not more helpful.

If you can't find within your budget in Stone Oak, look north of Canyon Springs Golf Club. you'll still be in the general area, and for rental purposes, it should suit you fine.

However, the school district border is there, so, if you want NEISD, verify the address.

I live in Stone Oak (78258), and there's a couple houses for rent in my neighborhood (Wilderness Oak/Lopez/Reagan zone) and they're all between $1800-$2000 a month. I would say depending on what schools your looking at is where you should be looking to rent because the areas can vary from street to street (in fact, the street behind our house is zoned for Stone Oak/Bush/Reagan).
