We are new to the area and I need to list a PCP for my children. Can anyone recommend a good pedi on the NW side of town? We will also be needing a pediatric optometrist (one daughter has a lazy eye) and dentist soon. Thanks for any help!

I love our peditrician who is at Tejas Pediatrics. It it at the corner of Blanco and Bitters so it may not be close enough for you. At any rate her name is Michelle Storandt and we love her. I tried 2 others before I found her! Good luck and welcome to San Antonio!

We use Dr. Chintapalli in Stone Oak as a pediatrician. We love her, and so does my son. As for the eyes, my son has strabismus, and just had one round of surgery done by Dr. Zhwan. He's getting on in years, but his practice is extremely busy. I can recommend both of these doctors with confidence.

I'm not sure if it would be too far for you from Castle Hills, but we go to Dr. Irvin at Alamo Heights Pediatrics. The wait to see a doctor can take forever, but once you get in the doctors are incredibly patient and friendly. Also, the billing process is top notch. That means a great deal to us, as we've had horrible issues in the past with our pediatrician and the billing to our insurance.

Thanks for the suggestion. It might work... we're going to try to get a list of docs and go talk to them before we make a decision. My wife works over on I-10 west and I work downtown. Her parents live nearby so we're trying to find a practice that is the best for all 3 of us.

My wife is due in September with our first... a girl?!

We were sure it would be a boy!! But I'm getting used to the idea of a girl... as long as she likes the NFL and can fetch beer from the fridge we'll get along just fine!

There's also PediDocs Pediatric Clinic which is a group of pediatricians (all women doctors). They are on 151/Westover Hills at the new Hospital location.

Dr. Jose Clay-Flores @
Children of Texas Pediatrics
10350 Bandera Rd # 210
San Antonio, TX 78250
(210) 688-0088

Really awesome doctor! He's been my son's pediatrician since he was born five years ago. He is knowledgeable, compassionate, listens to everything, very caring and genuine. Never had a bad experience with him and his staff has always been great too! He used to be at Tejas Pediatrics a few years ago but told me he was unhappy there, not sure exactly why but I know personally I never liked the staff there, maybe they have changed things up since then though. Good luck in your search!
