The houses aren't all that great. It's vastly overpriced. I used to think Fair Oaks and Boerne were really nice Hill Country but actually Helotes and towards Bandera have way nicer homes and they have more land. The Dominion lacks the land. Everyone is on top of each other and the views are nothing like in Helotes.

I had a friend who lived in Crownridge and her home was a lot nicer than the Dominion and she said though it's not gated she had looked at homes in Crownridge and the D and she got more land and a prettier house in Crownridge. Which is actually true since a friend of mine lived in the D and his house was average. In fact Shavano Park (like on Happy Trail) have way nicer homes and you're getting a better house and more land for less money because you're not paying for the name. I would say even Inwood (proper) is probably nicer than the D.

You obviously haven't been inside some of the homes I've been in. Yes, there are some average homes and some needing work. But there are also some of the most mind-blowing homes you'll find. Different strokes for different folks.

Gated doesn't mean much any more...gated subdivisions are everywhere nowadays! Having some security people is just a small step farther. The Dominion certainly isn't the most ritzy of the greater S.A. areas I've seen. Not even close.

It fascinates me.. That Dominion community!

Tell us of your experiences!

I was in there back in the day. It was being built and I somehow got in there with friends and we drove around. Dont remember how we were able to do that but the houses were being built and I vaguely remember one home with an elevator in it. Do I live there? No! Wish I did though.....

Two of my uncles from Mexico City bought homes there cash (over 600k)in the mid 1990's, but sold them a few years ago. Sorta a gated new style San Antonio Beverly Hills! I would prefer Monte Vista, Olmos Park, Alamo Heights or Terrel Hills.

True on most accounts. The Dominion takes the security very seriously though. My office is AT the gate, I drive a VERY inconspicuous car and know all the guards, but they STILL make me stop and check in with my license every time I'm in there, which is several times a week. They do a pretty good job.

Granted, they did have a small rash of break-ins last year, but it was all sub-contractors that were working on other homes in there.

There's a running joke within the Dominion that the gates aren't there to keep folks out, but to keep the residents in and away from everyone else.

I would take the four neighborhoods you listed over the Dominion because they are all much closer to San Antonio than the Dominion.
