I'm planning on moving into a new home in Stone Oak spring of next year. I've seen some mention of the Stone Oak traffic being a problem. I think I'll need to be commuting to the airport area for work daily. Any idea on commute time during rush hour?

Thanks!

JNA,

It really depends on what time you will be leaving and returning home. If you exit Stone Oak Pwy on to 281 anytime after 7:00am thru about 9:00am, you will hit traffic.

Coming home on 281 north from the airport area will be bad anytime after about 3:30pm.

After you are here for a bit you will find alternate ways to get around. We live in the area and rarely get on 281....we tend to take a lot of back roads unless it is absolutely inperative that we take 281.

Good luck on your upcoming move to the area.

I'm not worried about some traffic, as long as it's not brutal. Should I be able to make it back from the airport in rush hour in 45 minutes or less?

As Martinez4 said, it all depends on what time you leave. Could be much longer than 45 minutes if you leave between 7-9 AM.

If you are heading North 281 from the airport anytime after about 3:30-4:00'sh, you will hit traffic, mostly after Bitters Rd, all the way to Stone Oak. It will move but there will be some congestion. If you leave after 4:00'sh...then, mostly likely, you will hit more serious congestion that could take over 45 minutes.

Brutal is pretty subjective. We relocated from Orange County where a ten mile drive could take an hour. So, it is not brutal here....mostly just congested. I think it will depend on what your tolerance level is.

Then I think I should be ok. I lived in the Inland Empire and had to go on the 91 to Corona everyday. Now I'm driving the 405 from Torrance to Long Beach and it's taken me an hour to go 12 miles. Thanks for all the input!

Wink Memories...

heh, when I start griping about traffic out here, I just remember that otherhalf used to drive Menifee to Long Beach and back everyday ~ some Fridays it took 3 hours (yes, 1 way!). We were thrilled when the toll road opened up on the 91 and he got a free transponder for his motorcycle!! (This was over 10 years ago, so I'm sure it's even worse now.)

Stone Oak traffic is a cake walk compared to most of LA.
