Then I'm not sure why you would be alarmed. They simply decided to hand-deliver it instead of mailing it. The fact that they Googled your address or used a GPS (or <gasp> even a paper map) to find their way to your address is no more alarming than the UPS guy doing so.

I agree with everyone else-- they went the extra mile (pardon the pun) in this case. Good for them.

^^^^^^This. I would have been thrilled, and impressed, right off the bat that she hand delivered my gift card. That is something I would have done under the circumstances. I am very "customer service" oriented, as I worked in customer service for many years and sincerely cared about my customers.

Kindness and caring go a long way...........pay it forward. :-)

I completely agree! I worked for USAA for 11 years, always in some sort of customer service area, and going over and above, going the extra mile, always doing everything we could for the customer was drilled into us and we were expected to do these things... If I was helping a customer on the phone and saw that their birthday was coming up, I would send out a birthday card, or if they happened to mention their upcoming nuptials I would send out a congratulations card, a new baby, another congrats card...

I, too, would have been extremely impressed that they had someone drive over the gift cards... The manager obviously felt bad that she lost your mailing address and thought she would go over and above and get them to you asap, rather than having you wait any longer... Personally, I would have made a call to upper management to compliment this manager who obviously has excellent customer service skills...

No creepy factor at all, IMO...

Probably nothing. But why give out an address in the first place? Just call it a loss and never go back.
