Hello. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a helpful exterminator who might have experience treating antique furniture with woodworm (specifically lyctid powderpost beetle infestation). Online search advice has proven to be inconsistent at best! I would also appreciate hearing personal experiences with treating furniture for these things. I have a small infestation in a recently acquired piece that had unfortunately been stored in a non-climate controlled atmosphere for a while, but don't want it to become a big one. I now understand how the Hemingways lost their valuable antiques when they lived in the humidity in Key West in the early 20th century Thanks!!

Only cure I'm aware of is bagging it and fumigation. I'm not awrae of anybody in town that does it so you might call around. I did a reclamation on a house that had a "minor" infestation and the folks didn't handle it right away. It cost them right at $50,000.00 and about 8 weeks to get their house back. Once they're in the furniture, they can spread to the house especially if you have any high grade paneling or birch cabinets. Once in the cabinets, the ONLY fix is complete replacement with total house fumigation.
