I noticed tonight that my inspection sticker expires tomorrow. I went to a station to get a new one, and they told me that because my registration sticker says Collin County that I have to get emissions testing even though San Antonio doesn't do emissions testing. I explained that I now live in San Antonio, and he said it didn't matter. It simply mattered what my sticker said. How am I supposed to get my car inspected without driving five hours back to Dallas tomorrow?

You can probably get one in Travis county, I believe they require emission testing, and can give you the proper inspection sticker.

Scrape it off and try again elsewhere?

Seriously, if you don't want to claim you recently had a windshield installed, just visit a smaller, more remote inspection station. Some are definitely more lenient than others, and my truck with 300,000+ miles requires a very generous soul to pass.

Nowadays all stickers are registered on computer, so I am not sure how lenient some inspection stations are. They are hold accountable for their inspections quality, no?

Something has to be wrong here. If you moved to SA your vehicle no longer has to be checked for emissions. Whoever told you that is wrong. Now maybe you have to prove residence here in someway I don't know, but having to go back to where you used to live to get an inspection is incorrect. Call the DPS office and they can tell you what is needed.

OK, just called friendly inspection station and asked how to get the sticker, and was told that as long you can prove that you moved to SA and now live here they will inspect your vehicle and issue you a sticker. No need for emission check.
All you HAVE to show is your drivers license with your new San Antonio address as a proof of your new residence status.
Without your proof of residence there is no way to get the sticker, because they have to enter it to the computer.

Thanks everybody! I thought it was crazy. Husband visited new place. They agreed as above we just had to prove new residence with our new insurance card, which was easy to do. The last place didn't even ask if we had proof of residency, which we do have since I have a new license and new insurance both listing a SA address.

I went to Jiffy Lube, used to always go to the ispection stations. I was told last year to expect a higher price for the emissions test, but the man at jiffy lube stated we are in bexar county ( the one on grissom) and it is not required, so you should be able to go to anyone in the city and I only paid 14.50, where all this time the inspection huts were charging close to 20.00 with an extra 5.00 tax

If you are talking about the Official Inspection Stations, I'll gladly pay them a few extra bucks to get in and out fast. Often, the quick lubes take much longer if all you are doing is inspection. However, I haven't been to an OIS in a few years, and their website is down?
