I just bought a car. The dealership did the registration for me and sent me the car plate. I was expecting 2 but received only 1.

I see most cars on the road with 2 car plates (one at the back and one in front). So is it standard practice to have 2 plates?

I am trying to get through to the dealership to ask them about it. In the meantime, I would like to find out if there a place to make a duplicate car plate? How long does it take?

Thanks.

I would assume 2 plates, but does your front bumper have holes or notches in it to attach a front plate?
Some higher end or more expensive models don't have pre-drilled holes for the front plate.

Opps. So why did the dealership send me just one?
I do have holes in front. I bought it at CarMax.

Have no idea why a dealer would only give you one plate. Let them know and I'm sure they'll send you a second. Or go back to them and have them install them for you.

Go back to CarMax and tell them to get you the other plate. Period. As noted above, two plates are REQUIRED in Texas.

Call Carmax and see if they forgot or if they even have the second. They are great for the most part, but things can slip by at anytime. FWIW, though, I didn't have the front plate on my Jetta for a good year and half and drove on the westside right in front of police officers almost daily and never got a ticket.

I would certainly at least call them up and find out what happened to the other license place. As far as I know, Texas doesn't make just one plate, they're always in sets of two.
