I believe it. Hell the King Ranch consisted of One and one quarter million acres at one time.
Ranch hands used compasses to navigate their automobiles around the ranch with back then, because the ranch was so large. The Ranch also had its' own school district and other idiosyncracies which I cannot remember right now.
There were other ranches too that consisted of immense tracts of land. Over three quarters of a million acres of ranch land a piece. After independence was won there were three forms of wealth in Texas. Sugar, cotton and cattle. Westward where cotton could not grow for the aridity , cattle thrived, in the brush country.
Upon the yardstick by which billionaires measure immense wealth, the Cotulla ranch is a just a modest little place. Property which was accumulated, tract by tract. Ranch by ranch.

By contrast, The City of San Antonio is 465 square miles. I would take information published by Wikipedia with a grain of salt.

TX is required to pay for the education of illegal immigrants. SMH. Basically, anyone that went to school here will know English. Many that didn't go to school here will never learn. There's no need.
