I have been to some family search centers and libraries but I was not able to find a lot information. Maybe because I am not from here. They do have websites on internet but they are too expensive. Any ideas. thanks

If your family is from Texas you might find something at the Institute of Texan Cultures. I don't know how you set something up but I went with some out of state cousins and they made copies out of books that had our family info. I know my aunt researched our family back to Ireland and Scotland pre-internet at libraries but I'm not sure exactly how. I have all her records which are a mess but include tons of correspondence so it's pretty hard without internet. I've seen some by just goggling names but my aunt wrote a book and several articles and our family were Rangers and TX judges so that may give me an edge. Good luck!

I assume you've been to the downtown library genealogy section and the LDS place on the NW side. Don't forget that you can order certain records from either one...to be used onsite, if I recall. That is how I made one breakthrough in tracing my family. I'm pretty sure that Rootsweb and Genforum are still free to use, although they seem to be operated now by Ancestry.com, which has another site that is NOT free. Good luck!

I have done a lot of genealogical work.

Much depends where you and your family are from. Go to https://familysearch.org/‎ and it's free.

I found so much information in here, especially records from Mexico but they have records from all over the world. I always thought records from Mexico would be difficult, but the church was great at keeping records and many of them have been digitized.

Yes, ancestry.com is expensive, but if you can swing a one year subscription, it will be a great asset. You can find most everything to include death certificates. Those are great as most times they will have the name of the father and mother of the deceased along with where they were born (most of the time) and their date of birth (sometimes).

I also have hired a professional research person as I've hit brick walls after finding my family on my own back to the 1810's. Amazing these researchers can still find information further back as mine has. But be warned, they are expensive as they have to sift through thousands of records online. The best thing is when you can actually document your family tree with actual official records.

Any way, good luck.

I believe the SA libraries offer the Ancestry.com Library Edition, which is a slightly less personalized version of the commercial product.

Bibliotech, our county's e-library, has genealogical offerings. Unsure what exactly because I have yet to click on that part of the site.
