My dad recently passed away and left me with his pet squirrel. I know it is illegal to keep them captive so I let him go. He is really tame and stays around his cage even though he is free to leave. He takes Pecans right out of my hand. This time of year all the stores have unshelled nuts for sell but they are getting rid of them now for valentines day. My question is ..Where can I get unshelled pecans for little squillery wherrley?

Just take him in. Having Vietnamese Pot Belly Pigs is illegal (I think) in Bexar County, too. But if an Animal is that dependent on people, it will die quickly in the wild. A lot of people have pecan trees in their yards. Or just walk up to South Presa and Florida, there are very old Pecan trees that produce nuts, but bear in mind this is only through 1/4 th of the year.

There's also a place on 90W near Castroville, unfortunately I don't know the name or number and Google Maps failed me.

For some reason CD does not like the Captain of the Starship Enterprise on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Just go and look for pecan trees ( plenty around here) and pick some pecans. Free.

The person who told you to take him in is correct-this little squirrel does not know how to hunt, avoid predators, find water, etc. he may not have built up an immune system that he would have being exposed to other squirrels in the wild(i have no idea if this would make any difference). He may not be afraid of things that could hurt him- if he approached a human that was afraid of him or thought he was sick/rabid because he was doing things that a normal sq would not do.
If you cannot keep him, find a wildlife rescue/sanctuary/rehab/vet who would know if he could ever go back into the wild or should be cared for for the rest of his life. He may need some sort of vaccination if kept in a residence-what if he bit someone because he has lost some of his fear of humans? What about having a healthy fear of dogs? Is he used to them now-something that could cost him his life now?
I'm sorry you lost your dad-this little squirrel is a tie to your dad for you, but you should do what is best for the sq. you sound very caring-thank you for that.

A trip to Seguin will yield limitless pecans, especially along the river at the park!

Since the little fella has been domesticated the worst thing you can do is to set him free into a hostile environment.

If price isn't a factor HEB and Target almost always have pecans on the baking aisle except when the shortage was real bad a year or two ago. I'm guessing Walmart will as well.
