Hi

I would like to know what private schools in SA are considered feeder schools into Ivy league/ top colleges in the US? Any such schools around King William? I'm looking into pre-K right now.

Thanks!

I assume you mean San Antonio? Not Boca?

The only elementary school in King William is a public in district Charter, a Title 1 School, Bonham Academy (K-8) which has a dual language immersion program for K-5 (Spanish). The high school is also public, not ranked as well but getting there, is Brackenridge. It's definitely not a "feeder" school to an Ivy. There are no private schools in King William (which is an area less than a square mile).

The top private schools would be Keystone (pre-K-12) which is in Monte Vista, St Mary's Hall which is kind of N/NE of the city, and San Antonio Academy (all boys, pre-k-8). And while their grads do attend top universities, I suspect a small proportion attend Ivies (I've known a number of Ivy League grads in SA, and am part of the local alumni assn for one), but if they came from San Antonio they came from a number of different schools. no one school is a "feeder."

There are other excellent private schools, some religious, but these are the ones that stand out.

In many of San Antonio's public AND private schools there are one or two top students that get an Ivy acceptance each year. I don't think any of them have enough accepted students to be considered a "feeder school" though, certainly not in the same way that schools like Andover and Exeter might be.

That said, if you're looking at Pre-K now, you should primarily be concerned with finding a place that fits with their personality and interests. If they are happy and engaged in learning before high school, they are much more likely to succeed in high school and get that Valedictorian spot that would help with Ivy acceptance.

Then, after that, your preschooler can go to work at McKinsey for 2-3 years, go back for their Ivy MBA, jump to Goldman, start a hedge fund, and live happily ever after!
