Recently I have become very interested in metal detecting. I know someone who took up this hobby and found some amazing historical artifacts from the civil war. He found what appeared to be a dumping site for discarded union uniforms from a field hospital. Of course, no major civil war conflicts occurred near us, but has anyone found anything interesting metal detecting in the area?

At lot of areas around Rogers Ranch have a ton of old military artifacts - presumably from Camp Bullis being in proximity. Definitely head up and around in those areas.

Metal detecting is permitted in selected City parks by permit only. Below you will find the list of parks and the rules governing this activity.
City of San Antonio | Official Web Site - Parks & Recreation Department

Brack is a no go for metal detecting. Even with a permit it is not on the list of parks where it is allowed.
