You will find less "rude" people on the north side but I still deal with it everyday.

I grew up here and I visit my family in st louis, Mo....everyone in the store say hi when you walk by and smile really big. It's a large city like SA but the people sooo friendly!!

Anyways, good luck
In England it is an instant fine for driving while talking on the phone - great idea

I heard they were gonna impose a law like that here too, but it hasn't happened thus far. Maybe once the population gets large enough they will.

Hope you found your "nice" part of town. Perhaps you did, considering you haven't posted in awhile.

Keep this in mind though: Don't be so judgemental of your first experiences here. People like you whom are judgemental are usually the problem and not the solution. If you are afraid to go out or drive in this city you may have deeper issues that cannot be resolved in this forum. There are professionals here who can help.

As you may have noticed there are fellow Californians who differ with you and your opinion, and I'm sure it was because they can take the bad with the good. There are no such things as "friendly" or "unfriendly" cities just unfriendly and friendly people who make up any urban setting. You will find both wherever you go.

If you think about it, you will see how inferior your thought process was in judging this town and, by this point, have surely met some "nice" people.

If not, please reconsider going out and exploring my city and stay at home. I would suppose you may be the pessimistic minded person that contributes to clogging our freeways with your unconfident and inefficient driving anyway.

Have a nice stay, (hopefully).

I have a friend who is from San Antonio, he moved in with us a few years ago. What I have learned is that I would never want to go there. First of all, he paints all the town as drinkers and partying all the time. Next most of the women he describes are desperate, single moms who are just looking for a sugar daddy, baby daddy or both. Every time he goes back he comes back with stories of a new girlfriend and sure enough his phone rings off the hook all day. In a nutshell he says they are "super easy", and will go with anyone who lets them. So, soon enough they start asking for money, because thats what they do best and their baby daddy is usually a deadbeat. I knew one girl named "judy" who used to be his "girlfriend" and who was living up here with him about 10 years ago, and boy did she fit his description to a tee. She had eight kids whom she abandoned, she would fight with my friend to get money off of him for booze and drugs and she even made a pass a my husband and offered him "services" in exchange for money. I don't know who she thinks she is but I let her know who "I" was and all but put my foot in her ass and sent her crying back to Texas. I am educated, have morals, and put my family first in everything. It is a matter of being part of society.

Eight kids? There's an octomom in San Antonio?

I think the problem is the places your "friend" hangs out at when he comes to San Antonio. Strip clubs? Massage parlors? Escort Services? known Prostitute hangouts? Drug houses?......

To quote my grandmother, you friend must have the morals of an alley cat...
