I'm a 22 year old guy soon to be finishing college as an RN. As soon as I get my degree I want to move somewhere else to Texas. I was looking at Florida but I've read cost of living is expensive such as taxes and insurance and what not. I just don't like Rhode island because the winter here depresses me literally. I can't stand winter anymore and like a warm climate year round. I don't want to live in a ghetto neighborhood somewhere with good schools so eventually I'll be able to raise a family. I don't want to move to a super expensive area of Texas either. So where should I be looking ? I was thinking San antonio but what do you guys think ??

If you are avoiding Florida because of taxes and insurance then you may be in for a shock here in Texas as well, espically if you become a property owner. The property taxes here are high but of course there is no state income tax. I don't know how Florida or Rhode Island works in terms of taxes though, just saying there may be no benefit for you there.....but you will definately get warmer climate here.

You will love Texas, Florida is nice but it is filled with retired people mostly. I think you would probably get tired of it , i live in NJ and im moving back to Texas myself with my fiance. Trust me , taxes are way cheaper down there then up here in the NE. San Antonio and Austin i think would be a good fit for ya , just dont be fooled tho prices are cheaper but they arent dirt cheap anymore.

Hi, this is how San Antonio affordability looks like assuming you are making minimum wage and rent a 500 sq.ft. house...

Hope this helps - Andres

RN make 24$ an hour down in Texas. So its about 46k a year and cost of living and everything else is around 20,000$!? I don't want a house, a 1 bedroom apartment would do for me. It's just me but I mean eventually in the future I'd buy a house just in a good neighborhood.
