This is pretty much true. When I worked in banking I learned that direct deposits usually come with instructions ("do not post before xx/xx/xx" or words to that effect.). I think if that language doesnt exist then it will post as soon as the bank has it. It also depends on when the sending bank transmits it and what logic applies. It is possible USAA takes full advantage of the ones that dont have the language so that they arent posting all payroll at once.

Just a guess. It HAS been 11yrs since I left banking.

I can generally see the amount of the deposit a day or two early on my RBFCU account (shows as Pending, I think), but the amount doesn't actually post until payday.
