Castro's legacy was the streetcar? That's a stretch.

His legacy was Pre-k4SA as well as SA2020, which has exceeded its goals

When did Castro have a legacy? In order for a legacy to come undone you have to have one to begin with.

That is a subjective point to qualify a mayor as having a "legacy".

He most definitely has a legacy. Disliking someone doesn't disqualify them from having a legacy.

Even Mayors that had only one term have a legacy.

I do not dislike the person. I dislike the policies. There is a difference. Unfortunately in this city/country people vote based on "liking" someone rather than looking at their stance on certain issues. Just out of curiosity who are the mayors that have only had one term with a legacy within the past fifty years in SA?

My point stands. Don't argue semantics. Whatever you dislike or hate about the person, doesn't negate his or her legacy.

And my one term comment was in general not directed towards anyone specific. It applies to any mayor, heck, a President or any elected politician.

Everyone I know votes based on issues. I'm not sure whom the people you know who vote based on "liking" someone, but perhaps that has to do with those of your acquaintance. ""liking" a politician is secondary, at least for every voter I know (and everyone I know well does vote), though it helps.

Disliking one's policies does not disqualify their legacy either. SA2020 is currently strong and growing. How well it continues remains to be seen, but there's reason to be hopeful. Pre-K for SA, despite what many of you think, has proven successful so far and is becoming a model for other cities across the nation to follow.
