What's wrong with Oakland? The Raiders have some great young talent in Derek Carr, Amari Cooper, and Khalil Mack.

I don't want it, either, but I'm doubtful that more voters will change the outcome. NFL football is more popular than politics.

More voters = more fans voting.

If the Alamodome is not small or otherwise too dated, couldn't the funds used to build a new stadium be used to upgrade the Alamodome? Or perhaps even demolish it and build the new stadium on the same site.
Surely having the Team in the city would be more attractive than having them some 60 Miles outside of it......

Are you still driving a car from the 90's? Probably not. In NFL standards, the Alamodome is a dinosaur. NFL stadiums are upward to $2 billion these days. No way would the Raiders come here to play in the Alamodome.
By building a state of the art stadium between here in Austin, the team and other entertainment can draw fans from both markets.

I heard some info from one of the local sports talk radio hosts, who was quoting an interview with an elected official. Apparently, the Alamodome would require a few million dollars worth of improvements just to be suitable as an interim venue, for the 2 years the Raiders would occupy it while the permanent stadium along I-35 is under construction.
