Vehicle registration fee in Bexar County going up $10 - San Antonio Express-News

I renewed my vehicle registration fees for 3 years at a time whenever I renewed them & I just had to renew one of the cars today. Well, evidently the cost went up $10 on January 1, 2014! Who else knew about this? Did you guys know?

Just wanted to post this on here so it wouldn't be a surprise to anyone else like it was for me today.

Well, it's new news for me as of October 2014 because I've been renewing my vehicle registration for three years at a time for all my cars. Lame getting gypped out of $10.

How do you renew your registration for 3 years? Always been for 1 year at a time since I can remember.

You have the option to renew for longer periods when you go online. There is no cost savings and you have to pay it all in advance.

The $10 was for county transportation projects, cough cough, streetcars.

I seem to remember hearing about the State starting a program to have inspection and registration consolidated, but I do not recall the specifics. Supposedly it was a cost cutting move that will also reduce fraudulent registrations and inspections.
