So my husband and I are moving to SA in December. We currently bank with US Bank but apparently there are No branches in the state of Texas? Can anyone give any validity to that claim? Also, I heard there was a US Bank atm near sea world? Anyway if that is the case, what are the best banks/ credit unions in San Antonio. I used to be with bank of america but hated all of their fees. Thanks in advanced!

I'm a major fan of locally owned banking. If you need to stand in front of the guy in charge, he's right here in town. I also like a conservative bank in that they don't do questionable banking/loans like the big banks. For me that's Jefferson State Bank. The idea behind any banking is how safe is YOUR money in THEIR bank. Jefferson is far and away the safest bank in Texas. Yeah, there are bigger, but there isn't one better or safer. Yer money, yer decision.

USAA FSB is the best, and unlike USAA insurance, you don't have to qualify. Anyone can open an account there. They have all the latest and greatest banking technology. Great web interface, you can deposit checks with your smartphone, make cash deposits at their ATMs.

Effective August 2013, All new accounts at USSA FSB became limited to persons with a qualifying military relationship. Customers with existing accounts who did not have a military relationship were grandfathered.

Most banks now have pretty good online interfaces and have the ability to deposit checks online. ATM networks can be another concern. I only go to my bank when I have to deposit cash. And even sometimes i can do that at the ATM outside. But, if online banking and going to the actually bank is your main concern, USAA isn't the only game in town.

Frost bank by far and it is a Texas bank without the attitudes and fees of the out of state outfits. I've used most the others and Frost treats you with respect and will bend over backwards to help you, my whole family banks there and loves it.
