Here is a little bit of history of our legalized red light district in San Antonio with some photographs as the final buildings in the district were being razed for an exit ramp for I 35 in 1984. Also some pics in 1978 before they were razed.Moderator cut: website

There was a blue book published in 1911 by Billy Keilman. I printed a copy in 1978 and I will make a copy available on this thread at a later date if it remains up long enough. I have a pretty thorough knowledge of the district and I would love to share it with you.

I would think it had to do with style and looks. The new girls might start out as b or c Most popular would be a. As they got older and abused the letter lowered.

That was very interesting. I would have thought that the sportin' women would have been put out of business by Councilwoman Diane Cibrian (or perhaps one of her great-great-grandmothers)!

I just can't believe that neighborhood was there until the 1980s. I kind of remember those houses but only to the point that it was considered a rough part of town. Very interesting GY.
