The OP is from North Africa so I doubt there are many enclaves of that culture anywhere in San Antonio. My son's sister school Del View Elementary did get an influx of refugees a few years ago but I'm not sure which country in Africa they were from and as they arrived with no possessions including clothing I suspect they come from a different culture regardless of country. I know Stone Oak Elementary has a lot of students from other countries. I can't remember the exact number of languages. I know I heard the # 14 but I think it's much higher. While they may not run into someone from their country that type of setting might be more comfortable as their child would stand out as different less. I suspect many of the schools in this area are similar.
As noted location of jobs is important although my husband worked on the East side when we moved out here. Now he's pretty much in Houstom so a drive across SA and getting to see his kids every night would be a treat for him.

I work HR in the medical field and I hire a lot of black Africans -- particularly from Nigeria or Ghana as nurses and nurse aides. It isn't all that uncommon at all in my experience.

Great, I didn't realize that. Do they all live in a particular part of SA? That would be a good start for the OP.
