Hi! Is there somewhere to search "for rent by owner"? We are having a difficult time finding a rental home.

I was wondering the same! So hard to find rental homes! There are no sites other than Zillow and it is not updated with current inventory. I tried to contact realtors but they seem not to respond. What else is there to do to find a rental house?

We are entering an extreme sellers market, low inventory of homes available period. If you want to rent you need to less picky and expand the area you are willing to live in.

Drive around potential neighborhoods and look for signs. That's the best way. Many, many rental homes don't list anywhere. Often the best places too. Poster above is correct too...it's so cheap here, sometimes doesn't make sense to rent.

You should narrow down your neighborhood targets as much as possible. If you can, drive through every day or two. Most quality rentals in Boerne lease within a few days of a sign going up. I went through this when building a new home in Boerne a few years ago. We found a house to rent in Herff Ranch the day it was listed. They already had several renters interested; being able to prepay a years worth of rent won it for me. I'm guessing it is more competitive now.

Also, check out the Boerne Star (hard copy and online) for rental listings. If you can get the attention of one of the real estate agents in town that specializes in leasing, engage them to represent you.

Good luck!

I prefer to stay with locals (get the inside scoop and LOTS of personal care... $10 / night worldwide)
Hospitality exchange - Wikitravel / SA and Boerne have many great hosts.

Granted I have a terrible time posting my Boerne / Kerrville rural rentals.

Craigslist is worthless due to the LONG expired postings and realtor spam. (my 'other home' on west coast strips posts after 7 days.

I have not had luck on Padmapper or Zillow and some I have had to place with a Property Management company. Ouch... (but they get a HUGE rental price, well covers their 10% fee, but as a property owner... I dislike Management companies as much as the tenants do. Makes RE business VERY complicated, just like a realtor. Value add? = wasted time and money for all parties.)

We search the neighborhood first with a realtor, then when we found a community area we liked she referred us to a property management company, Boerne Lonestar Properties. They often update you weith rentals as we are still renting while we save for a home. Hope you've found something!
