There might be dozens of other drivers who were speeding, tailgating, ran red light, didn't use turn signals, etc. It doesn't matter. Some get caught, and they get a ticket.
This cop might baited you. Again - it doesn't matter. You took the bait, and you have to pay for it.
Now you are acting like mommie caught you with your hand in the cookie jar, and she's to blame because she put the cookies in the jar.

Bottom line: If you see a cop on the road, you should not maintain his speed. Let him pass you. Don't ever pass a cop unless he is turning, stopping or slowing to take an exit. Some of them actually are offended by people who pass them. It's like an affront to their authority.
I will pass a cop that is going below the limit. Never been pulled over for that.

Fiddlesticks. I pass LEO's routinely that are going less than the posted limit without issue.

I do believe that some cops would actually pull you over just for passing them regardless if they are speeding or going below the limit. I just haven't come across one yet.

The only ones the police would stop were the ones that blow by them while they were at the speed limit. It's been known to happen.......

That is how it should be, just because you said so doesn't mean it always happens that way.

Point is, if a cop wants to pull you over then the cop will find a reason. Probable cause? Give me a break.

I believe the Officer can say even though he was officially "off duty" he was performing his duty as a duly sworn officer.
He saw that you were speeding and "paced" you to ensure he was correct, then he slowed after he verified you were speeding so he could get behind you and issue you the citation.

He accelerated in order to get a safe distance from you, and you chose to ride his tail at the higher speeds, so you got a ticket. If you can't spot a motorcycle cop you need to get your vision checked.

There are SO many laws on the books, one can easily find something to use as probable cause. (Didn't work in Baltimore, though)

That's why I have a dashcam to document EVERYTHING. Even then, they can pull us over with fabricated P.C. & then just let us go when their fishing expedition fails.

You give me a break. Another case of getting the last word in before thinking. The police can stop you for almost anything they want. If you would have taken it in context you would have realized that. But you didn't, you hardly ever do.

I missed the course on understanding Deep Forest's sarcasm. Let me know when class is being offered again.
