I am trying to budget how much I will spend on utilities on a 2bed/2bath apartment/family of 4 for:
water
electricity (a/c)?
Gas (what do you need gas for?)
What are your expenses in a house or apartment in San Antonio?

You should be able to find a lot of responses to this in previous threads. Perform a search. It's a common question. Good luck.

Mine is similar to TexasRedneck (home, occupupants, water, electric). I do have gas for the hot water tank and gas grill and it runs 20-50.00 per month depending on how often I use my grill

Apartments usually base your water bill on number of occupants. I think we're paying ~$13 a month per person where we're at now, which is in North Texas but I know SA apartments that do this as well.

Electricity will depend on how comfortable you want to keep your apartment and also how efficient the building is. I'd look at newer construction just for *hopefully* more efficiency. You may not need gas but CPS provides both gas and electric for a reasonable (*to me) rate.

Cable/internet is all over the place price-wise, so you would just have to shop for the best deal for your family.

this is one of the MOST stupid things apartments do. water should be paid for. the last time i was on metered water, i was paying 40 frickin bucks a month for water! the more families that live there, the more i subsidized their water! must be nice to have a family of 6 in an apt and only pay 30 bucks a month for water.

will NEVER rent from an apt like that again and will go out of my way to point out how behind the times they are, how greedy their boss is and wondering how they could work for someone shafting over the everyday guy.

even my 8 unit complex pays for water, trash and gas. some apt complexes are just cheap and blah!s

yep id tell em to **** off. thats utterly ridiculous. course, i was charged for trash for over a year by the city, despite us having a dumpster. took 3 months to get them to take that **** off my bill. turns out they were charging the ENTIRE complex (all 8 units) for trash for the longest time.

lady in the building next to me got over a grand credit from cps, since she had been there over 5 years and had been charged the entire time.
