I recently purchased a new car and within 3 weeks and was hit by a rock at 6:30 in the morning on the way to the river for an early morning workout. I went to Safelite to see if they could fix it, but no dice. They would need to replace it. They quoted me $390 and I have gotten a quote from Glass America for $381. Do you all have any other suggestions? I have a $500 deducticle through my insurance. TIA!

Sounds about right pricewise.

I have never used them, so I cannot recommend them, but Thad Ziegler is a local company with several locations. You may want to get a second opinion on the repair vs. replacement. There was a 20/20 segment once about the importance of windshield replacement being done correctly. The windshield is an important part of the car structurally as it supports the roof. You may want to check with your insurance company to see if they have a checklist or questions to ask the installer, because having a bad installation could result in a bigger problem should you ever have an accident.

I've used Auto Glass Depot (738-1177) for sublet work for years. If nothing else, it's a 3rd option/qoute for you to explore.

Im actually surprised that Glass America was so close to Safelite's price. When we had the wife's Camaro windshield replaced, Glass America was over $100 cheaper.

I was too. They were the second person I called. I got a quote from Moile glass for $284 earlier today.

I know that you don't want to hear it, but Safelight is the only company I use for this kind of stuff because they know what they are doing.

Lesson learned: $0 deductible on comprehensive for autos is not that much more per year than $500. Mine was like $15 difference.
