Ads have to be coming. Without ads, there's no way can stay free. I wouldn't mind ads for nearby businesses.

Correction on my previous post regarding number of members. We have 1063 members in AR so far. Not sure why some AR hoods didn't come up on my first search

I would rather have the option of paid membership to eliminate the ads which I will choose if I like the site enough.

They are Bo. From what I've read though, members will have to opt-in to get the ads. I hope this is true

I like that idea as well.

I like this site. You can ask questions, get recommendations, find out what is going on, etc. I get a daily digest and pick the threads I want to read. I haven't noticed any ads, but we do have a classified section at the bottom. Most of what I have seen is lost pets, yard work or handyman recommendations or other help needed.

We get a weekly crime update. The community I just left has regular "Coffee with Cops" meetings at a local Starbucks (which are posted as a reminder on Nextdoor) so you can get to know the police and ask questions, etc. My new neighborhood does something similar but not as frequently. Lost pets get home really fast, I've noticed, which is really nice. I like the handyman recs and other trade recs because I generally trust people who have used the services. No one wants to be *that* neighbor who recommended a horrible person. I'm really curious about our new neighborhood in SA. Hopefully they'll be an active group.

We bought a home and use it. It's actually pretty cool. Lots of bitching about the HOA. Lost pets. Junk for sale. Occasionally drama about people speeding down streets or parking in front of mailboxes.

Almost everybody in our neighborhood is on nextdoor. We're growing tired of all the bickering, snarky comments and bored passive-aggressive snobs. Yes, there are the occasional "lost dog postings". But mostly it's about speeding, kids in golf carts, how annoying the contractors/workers are, how to drive poor people out of the area and, of course, the HOA.

If we would have been able to access the neighborhood nextdoor page before buying there, we would have made a different decision.
