I guess, I will have to see if the tree could be thinned to allow it to get full sun. The huge load of pecans could be also a reason for limb breakage.
Thank you all for good tips!
My aunt and uncle in Austin had pecans, I seem to remember they suffered some limb drop. With some trees, of all species, limb drop id somewhat common anyway.

They always sent me several pounds of shelled pecans every year so Mrs. NBP could make me pecan pie.

I live in MD, by the way .

In my experience checking out an issue with neighborhood trees, the SA city arborists were very patient and willing to answer my questions. (A link to the contact info for the staff is on that page.) At this point, you may not have any questions you need to take to them, but I thought this tip would also be useful to others who have basic questions about SA's city tree ordinances.
And most city arborists are more interested in helping you keep your trees alive and healthy. They are not looking for opportunities to make people remove healthy trees.

I'm not sure about San Antonio, but in Austin the tree protection ordinances could probably prevent a neighbor from cutting your tree's limbs back to the property line if it would endanger the health of the tree.
