I've replaced mine and now wondering how to properly dispose of the old one without paying a junk haul service.

A big white front yard planter would probably not be allowable by the HOA.

I expect if you put it out on trash day either the garbage guys would take it or somebody else would. Somebody not in an HOA.

Default Instead, How about?

A Lit up fountain with colored water? A Beautiful birdbath too and also could possibly double as a bidet. Pottie humor = Bad. Sorry.
Trash people won't pick it up? You could always break it up with a 5 lb. hammer and then toss the pieces.

If you have City of San Antonio garbage collection, you can take it to a bulky waste collection site. Just remember to bring your CPS bill showing that you pay the solid waste fee to the city.

Residents can take everything from old refrigerators to couches and tires (without rims) to a new bulky waste drop-off location at the city's Bitters Recycling Center.

The new service is free to anyone who pays the solid waste environmental fee within their CPS Energy bills — whether they live in a house, an apartment or even in gated communities that don't have city-provided residential waste-hauling.

A copy of the bill is required to access the facility.

But if they don't have City Of San Antonio-provided garbage and recycling pickup, they don't have a Solid Waste fee on their CPS bill, and therefore, are not entitled to free bulky-item drop-off, or am I wrong?

The reason they ask you to bring a CPS bill, is that it shows you live in a residence that is serviced by COSA Solid Waste, because their fee is tacked on to the CPS bill.

My husband stood out by the trash can on trash pick up day and asked them if they would take it, and they did. Not sure if they would have picked it up otherwise. Hubby helped pick it up and put it in the truck. We had AW at the time but pretty sure any of them would take it. Saves having to break it apart and put in the can.
