I am a single black female in her early 30s looking to move to SA. I do have two teen-aged children and I plan to work as an RN when I move to SA.
1= what is the average salary for an RN in SA?
2= what is the best side of town to live on? im looking at low crime and safe area
3= what areas should i avoid?
4= what is life like for the average AA in SA? when i visited i didn't see many AA females.
thanks in advance for whatever answer you guys can give me...

....and from the few responses we've gotten in the past from other black females, dating here doesn't seem to be easy for them. The black population is rather small.

Salary = i say around 60,000
Best side of town = Southside is the most chill area, not so much traffic problems or crime. Midtown is nice too
Avoid : old pearsall rd and 410 area (trouble area), 281 and 1604 (horrible and dangerous road planning, no sustainability) and far west side for same reason. East side outside 410 seems to have lots of problems in all things.
Life of AA = same as anyplace i guess

You'll find higher concentrations of blacks on the NE, east, and far west sides. Much of the east side should be avoided, but there are a lot of parts on the NE side that are decent. The parts of the NE side that should be avoided are Perrin Beitel/410, much of 78218 east of IH-35, much of 78239, and all of the unincorporated areas. Some parts of the far west side have a crime problem, but not the whole area.

There are other parts of the city that should be avoided, but I didn't name them because they aren't really good places for black people to live anyway. I would stick to the ethnically-diverse parts of town. What life is like for the average AA depends on what you're looking for. If you like a certain type of music, then there may not be much of it in SA. If you're looking to date, SA is not one of the easier places for black women to date intraracially or interracially.

Check with this active thread as well. Your backgrounds are different, but combining forces I think this and that thread would be very helpful. //www.city-data.com/forum/san-a...rthern-sa.html

Do you think the South Side has a good amount of hospitals like the north side does?

There are a few. Not nearly as many as the other parts of the city, but do not limit yourself to applying to hospitals that are on the northside. Check the crime stats and areas around the hospitals you are looking into as well.
