Can anyone tell me if the school districts here have different schedules? Back in Georgia every district started/ended differently along with conflicting weeks off during the year. Was curious how it was done here among the many districts.

All schools in Texas must now start the last week of August, as per legislation passed last year (because they've solved all the other problems in our state already). However, holidays will vary by district/region. Most of the San Antonio area districts have a day off in April for Battle of Flowers, but schools in the rest of the state don't take this holiday. Many rural school districts take a couple of days off when their local stock shows take place. Thanksgiving vacation varies by district too. Some take the whole week off, and others only take a few days the week of Thanksgiving off.

Spring break week seems to vary among local districts, too. I've noticed that the two biggest districts in town, the NEISD and NISD often take their spring break on different, but consecutive weeks.

In the four years we've been back, we (my wife and I) have never had different spring breaks. She works for NISD, I worked for NEISD for 2 years and Schertz for the past two. In my experience, most districts around here have spring break during the week of St. Patrick's Day.

My son moved from a NISD school to a NEISD school and I don't notice days off varying that much. I believe all the schools have their calendars posted on their websites if you want to double check.
