Nothing is "safe" but some areas are safer than others. Nothing is perfect, but some complexes are infested with vermin while others are not.

Any suggestions for a 1 bedroom apt. $800 or less that is maintained with some semblance of pride and not in the crossfire?

Based on your post in the other thread you seem to know a lot about the city... Why would you need to ask this question then? I can guarantee $800 will not get you much and will leave your opinion as it is.

78209 in certain pockets. broadway/natalen area for starts. i was renting a 2/1 800 sqft for 575 there abuot 3 months ago.

im in the same zip code now, but paying 745 for 900 sqft all bills paid. i was paying elec (120-160 a month) at the last place i was at. the 2/1 was in a nice area, but a little plain. the area im in now is full of lush trees. the entrance way to my apartment has a gigantic tree in front of it and loads of green ivy and grass surrounding it.

we also have 3 pools, a senor activity center, a fitness center, gated community, covered parking, actual security patrols and cameras everywhere. very low crime here, very low foot traffic. lots of military.

please dont DM me asking for location. i gave you the zip code(78209), just call around and you'll find it. vacancy here as well.

Thank you, great response, KM! Very helpful. I know the common market rates are pretty high but you never know what's hiding out there. Specials and such. One complex has a lot of folks moving out the past couple of months so they're lowering their prices to get occupancy up.
