Basics or General Education Requirements (english, math, history) taken at community colleges typically transfer to most 4 year schools. So save yourself a couple of $$$ and take these at any ACCD school. I graduated from both UTSA and St. Mary's (undergrad and grad. school respectively) and realize the differences between public and private schools. As other's have posted the public schools offer core courses to the masses and are basically lecture style. Private schools offer smaller class sizes but also have a limited number of classes that are offered. It really depends on what kind of learning style you are looking for and the type of environment you want to be in. Either way, college is what you make of it and that will reflect the grade YOU achieve.

Good luck!

Default ACCD versus UTSA -- 19FEB2013

It is erroneous to place such high value on the name of a school when, ultimately, the only thing that matters is whether the student applied themselves to their lesson and ... they had an instructor who valued their students highly enough to provide excellent teaching.

A prestigious-sounding name does not equate to a quality education.
