Pulled out of westcreek this morning heading towards bandera rd and a guy drove on the shoulder to pass me (he came out of westcreek as well) while I was in the right hand lane doing almost 60 (accelerating). This was close to the oak hills entrance. This is probably one of the worst things I've been involved with since I've been here. Even with all my years driving in D.C. I've never seen anything this dangerous or aggressive while driving. If anyone had been on the shoulder walking or biking he would have killed them. It was dark and happened quickly so unfortunately I wasn't able to get a license plate.

I drive 1604 up to bandera and 151 to 410 every morning. Most mornings I see aggressive driving. I really wish folks would take a deep breath and chill. We'd all like to get to where we're going safely.

Cars being on the shoulder plus my poor hearing is one reason why I gave up bicycle riding on public streets. I want to be on this earth a little bit longer.

On a parallel note, yesterday, I was driving west on I-10 close to 1604 when I saw in the left lane an approaching motorcycle. As he approached each car, driving at the posted speed, he passed each car on the left shoulder.

I watched the six o'clock news to learn of his death, but no such headline.

But yes, Fridays and Saturday mornings are the worst.

I was in the middle lane yesterday on I35 west when a semi in the right lane doing 75 was fast approaching a quarry truck doing about 40. While my cynical side was hoping for a smash up on my right, I realized that if the trucker had to pick between smashing into quarry truck to the front versus running into me, I was going to be the loser. Luckily I had a slight window to my left if I accelerated. Still wonder what would have happened if I didn't have / take that window to the left.

Well, I was in the Central Market parking lot going down the lane parallel to the store. Some doofus in a giant Mercedes comes down the lane and turns right in front of me. I slam the brakes and honk. Some dude who looks like he thinks he is a Patrician god with the queen next to him, gets all bent out of shape. He never paused or looked before His Majesty just zoomed out of the lane.

I drove away, letting him fume about the peasants in Toyotas.

I was getting off highway 90 to get on to 410 out toward Lackland when a black mustang appeared out of nowhere and got on my bumper. It is tricky going from the 90 access to 410 access and almost impossible to pass so he just stayed right on top of me until I got to the 410 access road. He swerved into the other lane and floored it. He was doing 80 or 90 down the ramp onto 410 and disappeared from my view. When I got to 151 there he was. A cop was there too. Sometimes justice prevails.

This is road rage? Sounds like typical South Texas/SA driving to me where right turns are expected to be made from the shoulder and most people seem to think it's for driving in whenever they want.
