Hi everyone,

I've previously posted about moving with my three dogs. I am looking at neighborhoods near the San Antonio international airport.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend an agency that can help with finding a rental home (or anything with an attached yard) for under $750 that will take on three dogs. If anyone has worked with anyone and successfully gotten a house or apartment from the agency, please direct me to a website or contact information.

For now, I am looking at The Grove near the San Antonio International Airport. One of my dogs is a service dog in training/ESA, but I would much prefer a home to work with.

TIA!

I think the Grove is going to be your best option. $750 is not a lot to work with (even in San Antonio). You could find a house but it would be on the south side or west side and you'd need a guard dog instead of a service dog to protect you. I lived in a sister property of the Grove and, while the property itself was old and run down, the property management was fine. You'll have a lil yard for your dogs so that's good (if you have a downstairs unit).

I was looking at reviews for the Grove, and found quite a few negative ones in regards to cleanliness and some of the people that live there. Would you happen to recommend another complex?

lvel,

LUCKY YOU getting out of SF.
(I was once stationed there with the USA.)

You might consider Government Hill Historic District near Ft Sam Houston. - Cheap to live & our area is cleaning up FAST. - LOTS of houses with fenced yards for your dogs.
(2 years ago, I wouldn't have been able to say that)

Fyi, I live in 78208, so I know.

BEAT WISHES, tex

Nothing near the airport with a yard is going to be in your budget. You're going to run into similar situations with most complexes within that budget. DOn't forget that people write bad reviews instead of good ones. The Grove and all its sister proiperties are not perfect. It's not going to be living luxiously. However, you'll have a yard for your dogs.

How is the drive to the airport from there? I guess you would take 281 all the way up there, right?

ashbeeigh,

YES. Also, most of the time you would be driving opposite the main flow of rush hour traffic & you'll miss most traffic jams..

yours, tex

To the airport, less than 15 minutes. To businesses around the airport that require more surface traffic, add a few more minutes. Traffic is heavy on 281 during rush hour but in reverse, it's slower but not bad.

As far as the commute from Ft Sam area to the airport, 15 minutes at the worse. I can do AH to the airport in under 10 on a bad day.

But does that get the OP a dog friendly apartment with a yard? Noy sure ho the commute from AH to fort Sam has anything to do with the topic at hand.

"You might consider Government Hill Historic District near Ft Sam Houston."

Government Hill is near Ft Sam, hence the discussion of driving time from there to the airport. Ft Sam is huge so your starting point matters, but G'Hill, which is to the south of Ft Sam and most distant point, to the airport is at most a 15 minute drive.

"I can do AH to the airport in under 10"
AH is just a bit north/west of Ft. Sam, so also a valid measuring point for time to the airport.

And yeah, loads of houses in G'Hill and a good chance you can have one with a yard for a dog. Prices are starting to go up in that neighborhood for sales, but rentals are still available. It's a great neighborhood with easy access to 281 and I-35 as well as the Broadway corridor. I'd also look in the area between G'Hill and Manhcke Park, prices increasing there too, but more houses w/yards available.
