Does anyone have any neighborhood recommendations for the west side/far west side of San Antonio? My family is relocating for a job at Lackland, so we would prefer to be no more than 30 minutes away from the base. Also no HOA would be our first choice. (Budget under 200k.)

Even Castroville would put you within 30 minutes of Lackland.

I live in 78245. Most of the newer construction in this area would be within your budget, and many are within NISD. All of the newer neighborhoods have an HOA, though.

I don't know if you can live farwest SA without an HOA. I do think you can find many homes under $200 though. We just moved here and love it. We're off of 1604 and Culebra (Way down Culebra). Let me know if you need a realtor, and I can forward you my realtor's info. She is great, and will help you find what you're looking for.

Also, we've got a brand new middle school, and a new HS that opens up in 2017 out here. It's costing 111 million to build. We came from Portland and think the schools here are fantastic.

It does look like there are HOA's for almost every house we have seen. It isn't going to be a deal breaker, but we would prefer to find a home without one- if possible. I was hoping that maybe some locals would know some older neighborhoods on that side of town we could look into. But it seems like HOA's are big in San Antonio- much more popular than the places I have lived in Florida!
We have seen some nice houses on Zillow in our price range so I'm pretty hopeful we will find something nice. I have a referral to a realtor but I would love to have your realtor's info in case we don't go with the other one.

Thank you!
