Gingerale. sure you can stuff it with anything you like. I just thought that the hollowing out of the head was a neat idea. If it was anything, it was easy. Hardly any cleanup at all.

Ok, you all have my mouth watering! I pulled one of my beef briskets out of the freezer (they are a bit hard to get for a good price up here in TN) and am making one for dinner. We usually prepare these in our smoker that we hauled up here from TX but I am going to try one in the oven. Yum!

I made your brisket last night! It was very tasty, and we are gonna make sammiches tomorrow! I think I should have cooked it a bit longer as it was a little tough, but that sauce is so good!

Yeppers, sounds like you might have cooked a bigger brisket, so probably needs a little more time.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Paka - It turned out well, thanks so much to all! I thought I had chili sauce but didn't, so I improvised. I had a 6# brisket and mixed up one packet of onion soup, one bottle of Hickory barbecue sauce, one 8 oz can of tomato sauce and one can of coke. I poured this all over and then patted down 1/2 cup of brown sugar on top. Mmmm. I still prefer our smoked brisket but that takes 12 hours! This was quick. We sliced the rest up for sandwiches for the weekend! Served up with coleslaw, potato salad, frozen and brought back to life corn on the cob and sweet tea (although hubby also had a scotch and water ).

BN's recipe for a successful meal...

Step one: Pick up the nearest telephone, cell or string-can device

Step two: Call Le Fritte in Southtown for a dinner reservation

Step three: Order large bottle of red wine at meal. Get tipsy.

Step four: Fall asleep (preferbly not at the table), happy and full

Fudge brownies: cream 1 stick falfurrias butter, add 1 cup imperial sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla, then beat in two eggs, add 2 squares melted unsweetened chocolate, then add 1/2 cup flour and chopped pecans (as many as you prefer). Bake in buttered 8x8 or 9x9 pan in slow oven at 325 for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool and cut.

Horiatiki Salata (Greek salad): 1 lb tomatoes, 2 shallots finely sliced, 1 green pepper thinly sliced, 4 cucumber thinly sliced, handful of green or black olives, 4 oz feta cheese, large pinch of dried oregano, 6 tablespoons of fruity or extra virgin olive oil, salt to taste. Serve with crusty bread for dipping in juices. Make sure you get the best tomatoes you can find. This is a delicious salad and is a meal in itself.
