I am fine paying for a service provided by the city, but this seems sneaky to get extra.
Remember all those other city services/programs everyone thinks are so neat, that SOME out there were saying weren't programs/services that the city should be trying to provide? Well, NOW you can see how they pay for 'em - charging more for the things they SHOULD be providing.

I actually thought that we paid for garbage a few dollars a month somehow tied into utilities or something, never knew it was that much which is what shocked me that it was going to be high or was already that high. Goodness, I will choose the smallest can good thing because a car hit my can and cracked the lid.

For the miniscule difference, I'd stay with the larger cans for those times when I DO have a lot of trash.

Pay as you throw would be a welcome change. Now I pull all three out to the curb out of spite, regardless how full.

Default Put it in a nutshell,

Yes , it is a racket Charles, well put. There is tons of money in tonnes of garbage.
Modern landfills are a racket. Old landfills can be an ecological nightmare.
