Hi My husband will be going to St Mary University in san antonio in the fall. We are a young family with 2 little kids. Have no clue about san antonio at all. the only thing we heard was that good areas are in the Northeast & northwest of san antonio is this true. We would like to know some surburbs areas to look up too. Need advise on crime, safety, schools, & commute to the university. Can anyone tell me anything about the northeast & northwest? We will be coming to visit next month so would like some areas to know about. Any help willl be great!

Well, first of all, you don't want to live on the NE side as you will spend an hour each way driving. The next question would be price range and how much crime your willing to accept. St. Mary's is in town and the nicer neighborhoods are out near 1604.

I would never live in the Northwest, too much crime. You would be the safest on the North side of town around 1604 or Loop 410.

If you want a house on the NW side, you better hurry. According to this thread //www.city-data.com/forum/san-a...on-nw-san.html The houses over there are really moving fast.
