Lucky y'all. Last year I fought to have the appraisal reduced to "only" a 12% increase. This year... 39% increase. You read that right - thirty nine percent!

That sure was an expensive fence I built.

My land market valued doubled last year (it has increased in the 11 years we've had the house, but never doubled). I'm not totally shocked as sales have been insane in my neighborhood this past year, but as it's an historic property, the house can't be altered, so not sure why the land alone has such value. Guess I should just be glad they didn't go too crazy with the structure value.

My overall value (land and dwelling) went up $40K which I think is ridiculous for a one year increase.
Mine went up more than $75K (~36%). But they try to do that every year, and we knock it back down to an additional $10-20K or so. So we still end up paying the tax increase, but at the max 10% increase limit. Then we do it all over again the next year.

I'm fine with paying taxes, but as I have no intention of ever selling my house, the value is meaningless. I'd much rather pay on my income, which reflects actual dollars coming in.

My neighbor's house which is exactly the same square footage (same house) as mine was valued @$115,000. The only thing different with my house is that it's 100% brick and valued @$122,000. Zillow's estimates are $117,500 and $118,700 respectively. I like Zillow's numbers better and am planning on doing a protest. My brick exterior is not going to bring me $7,000 should I sell. Money grubers!!
