I'm going to have my grandsons visit this summer for a week (without their mom and dad) and am looking for ideas as to how to entertain them. I don't expect it to be non-stop entertainment, but would like to do a few fun things. I want to go to a ball game as they both are on teams and quite keen, and maybe we will hit the zoo, but any other ideas would be appreciated. Are there any splash pads in the area? We might head down to Corpus for a night (that's for me too, I'm from Michigan and miss the water!) but for the most part, we will be staying in the general area. Fun and educational would be a plus! What sort of things do they have at Morgan's Wonderland? I may as well say from the outset that I'm not interested into going to Seaworld. :-)

TIA!

The DoSeum (children's museum) is great. Not a splash pad but there's a water area so they'll get wet a bit. There are also some cool areas like the spy thing and well, other stuff my 9 yr old loves.

Yanaguana Gardens (aka HemisFair Park) has an AMAZING splash pad. Super cool. Loads of fun, plus a great climbing area and a million fun things to do. My kids could easily spend every day there if I could tolerate it more . A trip to Natural Bridge Caverns is fun for that age. San Pedro Springs Pool is also wonderful. It gets crowded but it's a lovely pool in the park. A walk or bike ride down the Riverwalk - ideally from King William south on the Mission reach, though it's not well shaded after Roosevelt Park so go early and bring hats. Great bird life. Or head north from the Pearl. Great to explore. My kids LOVE Espada Dam and Park. You'll easily fill a week with all that. Make sure to take some time to just hang out and let them see what the grands do

If the flow is not too fast, maybe tubing? If not, try Schlitterbahn and/or Splash Town.

If you are looking for something regardless of weather (and lets face it, the rain has been something lately that could really spoil outdoor plans), Groupon is offering a 50% off for the Incredible Pizza Co which is an indoor place with video games, different things to do that would be fun for that age, and that is a good deal.
https://www.groupon.com/deals/san-an...-pizza-company

My grandsons also enjoy Monster Golf over off of NW Military Dr. (also on sale on groupon) https://www.groupon.com/deals/monste...17-san-antonio

Just great fallbacks if this weather keeps on being as unaccommodating to outdoor activities.

Best thing about both places is you can participate with them, or sit and watch them if desired while they have a blast!

Any water park or water slide will keep them busy any days your are willing to take them. Doesn't need to be upscale / expensive. Simple slides and waves / water current are adequate.

I like children's museum / aquarium / science museums for learning.... Rainy day, or mandatory Air Con day.... Otherwise outdoor stuff is best for boys. Bikes, skates....

I like to build stuff with kids that age... From sand castles / bird houses... I refinished a 'free' antique adult invalid 'potty' chair with my grandma's help when I was age 9..., it still sits in my living room, 50 yrs later.

Fruit & veggie picking and canning... It was very special to learn to enjoy this summer task with grandma.

Go fresh pick beans and corn and come home and prepare a Bbq picnic.

Let them cook something new everyday. Kids love to eat, so learning to cook is a bonus. Their parents will thank you for giving them new ideas for good food.
