No, just saying that Fiesta week in April would be a nice time to enjoy the festivities.

Also the Market Square downtown.

We spent most of our time in Market Square. Riverwalk was incredible with lushness; it was amazing.

DawnMTL,

TRUTH is that San Antonio is a GREAT place to come & become WINTER TEXICANS.
(We do NOT call such persons, "snow birds".)

Arrive in September & go back to Canada in May each year & AVOID shoveling SN*W.
(That's a 4-letter word to this thin-bloodied Texican.)

Note: "Ya'll" is singular; "all ya'll" is the proper Texas collective plural, as in, "All ya'll come over Saturday afternoon about six, for BBQ & beer."

yours, satx

DawnMTL,

In point of fact, at least two TX community colleges in south TX teach "for credit classes" on BECOMING TEXAN and LOSING YOUR YANKEE ACCENT.

2 of the inside jokes in deep south TX is:

IF you wear holey blue jeans, a ratty tee-shirt, a John Deere "gimme cap" & "tennis", you were likely born here. On the other hand, if you dress like Roy Rogers or Dale Evans you live in a Silver Bullet 6 months a year & the rest of the time in St Paul or Minneapolis.
AND
Winter in coastal TX is defined as: The 10 days each year when the Canadian lovelies put a cover-up over their bikinis.

DawnMTL,

I thought so, too.

Texas awaits your family's arrival to "put down roots". - She can always make room for a few more Texicans, who "got here as soon as they could".

As I've said elsewhere, EVERY living Texican is either an emigrant or the descendant of emigrants.
(Even the NA/Amer-Indian groups moved into TX from another area.)

Note: "Texican" is the CORRECT spelling & has been since the Republic's Congress passed a public law in 1837, that deemed that spelling to be the official spelling. - The memoranda that preceded the law stated that "Texican" rhymed with more words than "Texan".
(Other than "Mexican" & "lexicon", can you think of any such words??)
Texas politicians have always been "just a bit peculiar". = CHUCKLE.

yours, satx

DawnMTL,

Btw, I had a childhood friend (until his recent & untimely passing), who owned a large Western Wear store down in the Valley, i.e., the "home of the Winter Texans" for over 2 decades.
I went in to ask him to lunch, one day in SEP 2 years ago & his wife told me, "I wish that you WOULD take him out of here. He's driving me crazy."

I asked "Dottie" why he was "all stirred up" & she said, "The GOLD LAME western outfits for ladies & the cowgirl boots in jewel colors have not arrived AND the Winter Texans will be here in about 10 days."
(I had to LOL.)

yours, satx
