Grocery store chain H-E-B plans to open two new stores next year in San Antonio’s growing suburban neighborhoods where demand has increased along with the number of new retail shops and residents, the company said Tuesday.
The grocer plans to unveil locations at the intersection of Alamo Ranch Parkway and Alamo Parkway on the city’s far West Side and another near the intersection of Loop 1604 and Bulverde Road on the Northeast Side, H-E-B spokeswoman Dya Campos said in an email. Campos declined to share additional details about the new grocery stores, including the exact opening dates and the offerings at the new locations.

Both badly needed stores.

Hopefully the Bulverde Rd store will have something unique.

I am beyond thrilled about the Bulverde and 1604 location. I usually end up at the 1604/281 location because I hate trying to get in and out of the Evans/281 store. Bulverde and 1604 is perfect for popping in on my way home from work if needed. The traffic there now is kind of heavy but I think once all the road work is done it will be fine.

With apps like Shipt and Instacart, I have no plans to go inside of a store anytime soon.

Hoping the HEB in Alamo Ranch will carry higher-end products. Would be nice to have a scaled down version of a Central Market.

I hope so too! I also hope it has Curbside pickup service, since they have rolled it out at the HEB Plus at bandera we never step foot in the store.

With the use of these apps, are there any extra costs vs going to store ourselves? Do we pay driver for items or is it all paid for via app?
