I just had the worst Mexican food of my life. Who the hell puts brown gravy in enchiladas? You'd think it was made by a gringo but it wasn't. That restaurant has been on West Avenue & Nakoma for as long as I can remember. Anybody else been there and actually like it? Maybe it was an off night or something. I don't get how that restaurant has been able to stay open for this long with such crappy food. The tortilla chips were not good either.

I worked next to it years ago and ate there a number of times. It's not great, but I think I remember liking the carne asada ok.

I've been to a number of Mex places that are popular but lousy, and I've never understood it either. Some people just don't know Mexican food or just have strange tastes, I guess. Lots of folks I know used to rave about Willies on Austin Highway while there were good places right next to it. Some other subpar popular places are Chachos/Chaluccis, Panchos, Taco Kitchen...

I went once on a Friday and it was dead, should have been a sign. But the food was subpar and it seems that the place has not be remodeled since the 70's.

I think the following restaurants are over rated: Panchitos on McCullough - horrible tortillas, ChaChas on Babcock - bad service, La Fogata on West Ave, and Chacho's stinks like a grease trap.
